2010 Louis Jadot Chambolle Musigny
This. This is why I love wine. Both Don and I were craving red. With the summer heat we’ve been drinks lots of white, rosé, and sparkling, but red wine was just calling to us. So I looked in my wine fridge and what did I find, a 2010 Louis Jadot Chambolle-Musigny. This is village level red Burgundy, not some crazy expensive cru, and it is just singing. Tart red cherries come leaping out of the glass, a good amount of mineral goodness, then I get a hint of oaky baking spice, cherry coke, and red kool-aid, with just a touch of brambles and underbrush to give a whisper of earthiness underneath. On the palate, the acid is high and very bright, but the fruit turns more raspberry and wild strawberry, with a cherry core still underneath. An absolute pleasure to drink, extremely high quality for the price, and a lovely wine to mull over while we binge watch on a Sunday.
